Where did these designs come from?

The top one is inspired by a background which came with Windows NT. As I was looking at the different backgrounds, I came across a hiking boot design and though to myself--"Well, I like boots, but that doesn't really look like any boot I've ever worn or would ever wear." So I made my own kind of boot, then thought that it needed more clutter as a likely environment.

The second tile is, of course, my hardcore donkey. The plaidish thing is supposed to be his shadow--I though that a hardcore donkey just might be mulish and contrary enough to sport a plaid shadow.

I scanned in the safety pin, then messed around with it a bit.

The last one is just an annoying trickster thing.
