We use a lot of the same ideas to make the doily as we did to make the lace strip.
Here we start with the same splatter of white on black we used before.
Instead of selecting a "squared off" shape, I've chosen a wedge. This wedge is a 45 degree angle, which makes it easy to work with, as two 45 degree angles make one 90 degree angle, a squared off bit.
Here I've flipped and rotated to get a "mirror image" wedge to join with my first wedge.

After that, it is easy to copy, flip, and paste into place to form a "doily."
